Posted by Silas I greatly anticipated the Kiwanis Builders' Camp at Benum Hill Resort, Pahang. I love facing the challenges, alone in the woods and doing different things with new friends. I noticed that this time more than half the participants came from sheltered homes  (ie homes for the abused, neglected or abandoned children). I like them because they were very open in one to one conversations, independent, but very shy in groups. It took a lot of effort to get them to speak out in group discussions, although they had brilliant ideas. But as we spent more time together, we grew comfortable and started to be more confident.  People think camp is a time to have fun, to learn, to get along with each other, and come out a better person. That's just pretty much it. But to me, those are not the main reasons. Thinking hard without thinking caps... Posted by Xian Jin Finally, the moment we have been waiting all year: a rest and retreat at Cameron Highlands! I was longing for a cool, refreshing time up here, away from the scorching heat back in KL.  The OMF bungalow, where we stayed for 4 days. It was very spacious, with so many places and treasures to explore and discover. I spent much time in the library, going through old books in peace and quietness.  The scenery was simply beautiful, lush green surrounding the entire bungalow. It was a cold, squally morning; the forest of different shades of green overlooking the blue sky. The air was so fresh and clean, a pleasant environment. Football Time!!! We spent hours outside playing sports. In recent years, Cameron Highlands has been in the news for all the wrong reasons. We haven't been to this highland like for more than 7 years. This highland, surrounded by mountains and lush valleys, is the size of Singapore. It's one of those places we can go for a cool respite from the heat. We drove past the tea plantations, and they looked exactly like what we remembered years ago. Hopefully other parts of CH would be the same, despite what we read in the news. The OMF Bungalow, an old colonial bungalow near Tanah Rata - looked like a different world hidden in the mountains. It was very windy, and COOL. We couldn't have enough of the cool, fresh, mountain air. Breathing in until every cell in our bodies was filled with the sweet, refreshing, clean air. Posted by Xian Wei I joined a wilderness skills camp for 3 days at Janda Baik. It was organised by Radiant Retreats. There were many levels of camps and this camp was Level 3 under the Bronze category. There were only 14 participants as it was held during a school week. Without hesitation, I joined the camp because I love camping, going outdoor, meeting new friends and learning new life skills. Learning the basic First Aid. It was our first and very important lesson. Arm sling (elevated) is when your collarbone is broken.  After that we went river trekking at Kg. Chemperoh. We learnt how to filter clean water from the river. Examples of what we should do when your friend is injured and when you are lost in the jungle...
