He was full of brilliant ideas but most of them got him into trouble. However, that did not stop Nick from thinking of more ideas. When Nick was in fifth grade, everything was different. He had to face Mrs Granger, his English Language teacher. He learned all about words and wanted to invent one himself. One day he bumped into his friend and dropped a pen. This gave Nick a new idea. He decided that he would not use the word pen. It would be “frindle”. The word soon passed on and the whole school began to use the word. Students were punished for using the word “frindle”. I've started to homeschool my 6-year-old boy since June. It's a short term arrangement until he goes to Primary 1 next year. Homeschooling is not a new idea in our family. But I only got the courage to do it recently. One of the great books that encouraged me deeply was - "Homepreschool and Beyond" by Susan Lemons. Susan is very real, else we think she is a supermom. She has her fair share of successes and struggles - to be full-time as a homeschool mom and part time as a writer and blogger. Whilst social media was a great tool for marketing her book, it also took too much of her time. She was disabled as a result of a strange sickness when she was a baby. When Helen's mother had another new-borned baby, Helen was mad and angry and she almost killed the baby. Her mother had sent for a teacher that lived far away. When the teacher arrived, it was not a welcoming sight. Helen hated Teacher and even locked her in her own room. Teacher tried hard to find out how to teach Helen and she finally found the solution. She brought Helen to another house and stayed there. Slowly, Helen began to learn words. The Wright brothers build many things, such as the fastest sled in town, a printing press, a folding machine and many more. As they grow, they learn to fix bicycles. The Wright brothers do not buy new bicycles- they buy old parts of bicycles and fix together to make a bicycle. However, both Willbur and Orville are sick when they are young.
