We're very unfit. Some of us are slightly better, but still lacking in stamina. So we decided as a family that we should do something. Hiking may be good for the boys, but may not be so good for our old knees. The older boys, together with their father, tried out Bukit Apek, which is near our place. It's good for beginners, we heard, yet still challenging with many trails. We're beginners, and the first thing we have to overcome is, our discipline to get up early :(( We're still trying, not so much success, but a start (hehe). There're a few entry points to the hill, this one is from Jalan Awana 23, Taman Segar Perdana, Cheras - a famous landmark is the dessert & drinks stall just before the entry point. A heavy downpour in the early morning hours was definitely not the kind of weather anyone would want to go out and join a forest walk. If I had followed my instinct, I would have missed a great time with nature and friends  at FRIM, Kepong . It's our first time joining Suzane from Tatana Roots for an outing. She's a great guide with young and old. We're so thankful the sun came out just as we're about to start hiking. It didn't take long at all for the kids to warm up in the planted forest. Cos of the rain, the forest was cool though it was near noon time. A slope to add some thrill, ooh and aah to the otherwise, easy trail. Suzane could relate so well with kids too. She could pick up any creepy crawly on her hand and shared stories with the kids - at ease. She's actually holding a millipede on her hand and engaging the kids at the same time. The sleepy main street of Sg Lembing town, which is 48 km from Kuantan in Pahang. We arrived on Wednesday, and this place looked like a ghost town. Closer to weekends, the town is alive again. We saw tour buses and cars streaming in steadily, and the old shophouses and market place sprung into action. We really looked forward to our R&R retreat with fellow brothers and sisters. Life is so fast-paced that we rarely have time to reflect and get perspective on our own life and circumstance. We always love Fraser's Hill cos it's so slow-moving as if time has stood still in the hill. No planned programme or activity. No theme park around. No malls. Just close to nature. The cool mountain air, stroll along the lush greenery, taking in the beauty of nature and the old colonial charm and enjoying the fellowship of friends.
