Dining at Yumin New Village Seafood Restaurant ('Yumin Xincun Jiudian') at Panyu is definitely an experience to feast your eyes and whet your appetite. This must be one of the biggest restaurants in the world.  The restaurant is within a 5-storey complex, has huge dining areas in the ground floor and hundreds of private dining rooms in the upper levels. Have the ability to serve up to 4,000 people.    There will be an attendant assigned to you, who will show you around the place and take your orders, while you just walk from one end of the building to the other.  It has an open kitchen concept with a wide range of dishes on display, so no worries if you don't understand any Chinese.  A very good opportunity to see 1st-hand the wide variety of live seafood, poultry, fresh vegetables and fruits, dim sum, dessert, local snacks, roast meat - and absolutely anything you cannot even imagine - snakes, crocodiles, beetles - in an area so huge like ...

It's too stressful to go downtown on a weekend, so we'd rather have a more relaxing Sunday at  the nearby Shawan Ancient Village in Panyu District.  The environment here is even more idyllic than Xiaozhou Arts Village  at this point in time.  Walls clad with oyster shells were more common here than Xiaozhou.  Shawan ancient village is a new attraction, not yet even listed in tourist brochures. It's very spacious, with rooms to wonder around and get lost without worrying about the boys. Shawan a ghost town?  There was discontent over the entrance fee of RMB55 per person, that's why it's not promoted by the tour agencies. There's no ticketing booth, rather the crew would look for visitors for the payment. It's very inconsistent, we didn't even know we need to pay and no one approached us for payment either. Most will come for the popular local delicacy: the Ginger Milk Curd ('Shuang Pi Nai'), a hot dessert originate...

Xiaozhou Arts Village, a small village in Haizhu district of Guangzhou. Branches of Pearl River wander through the village with houses lining the banks, canals, bridges and 'mashi' roads. This is not a very accurate picture of Xiaozhou now. The village attracted a community of young and creative artists who were forced out of the city centre due to rapid urban developments and high rentals. "Forget Our Memories" - an irony of what becomes of the village houses after the artists turn them into their studios and lifestyle cafes. There're exhibitions all year round.
