My grandmother planted a tiny orange seed, Not really knowing the wonders of it; A glossy Sunflower, fresh and new, With golden petals, dressed with dew. It grew and grew, from seed to life, Sprouting new leaves, the size of mice. Soon, very soon, the flower will bloom, Even when our life is in gloom. One month later, on a bright morning, When the shrill cry of birds interrupts the sleeping, And the morning sun starts to rise. I walked into the garden with a cry of surprise! So imagine life as Sunflower plants To grow up and become daughters and sons. We have ideas that can change our lives, To do so, we need faith to contrive.

Posted by Brandon. The football season ended with a bang! A carnival was held at the field. It was a 2-day tournament. All the tribes (Spartans, Vikings, Aztecs, Samurai, Apache and Gladiators) had a march pass with their costumes, weapons, etc. I felt very excited for the carnival to start. The field was overcrowded with children of different ages wearing their costumes.   Everyone was in bright smiles.☺ And here we go! The march pass starts! There were dozens and dozens of parents who came to cheer and support. Their cheering was excellent to me. The march was well organized, outstanding and everything was in order.     Our tribe managed to get the best costume award! First game of the tourney. Everyone played well and they all deserved to win. Honestly, I think some of my team mates were not in high spirit. There was once a helper in our house, Who babysit us and set up traps for each single mouse. One day she decided to leave, So we gave her a card and a gift. It was sad to see her go away, So we brought her out to dinner the day before May. She told us her sweetest memory was about me, And this helper goes by the name of Suryati.                                                                              -Brandon Hah☺

January finally arrives in the vale of Asia, Out of nowhere, an annoying sound alerts our ear. We looked out of the window, And saw a bird we know. The bird is called the Koel, And its description is easy to tell. Black all over its body, And red on its eyes only. Its morning call, (Made by its mouth and jaw) Would awake us instantly, And drive us crazy. We nearly made a petition, To shoot the Koel with some ammunition. We were irritated by the female Koel especially, And her call made us rest uncomfortably. February, March, April and May passed slowly. As slow as a tortoise can be. Suddenly, as June is approaching, The bird stopped its provoking. We immediately knew the Koel had moved on, And had gone to another patch of dirt by dawn. We walked into the garden, huddled together, “Good riddance to that bird!” we shouted altogether.                           ...

Posted by Brandon. A friend of ours introduced us to a community youth football league. I wanted to try something new, so I decided to join. This was a new experience for me, since I never joined a real football league before. The league is held every year, and if I'm not mistaken, it started in 2001. The place is located in Subang Jaya. It is quite far but worth it. My team is called the 'Vikings' and my teammates were all very friendly. I was given the number '11'. We still had to play even though it rained. If it is a heavy rain or thunderstorm, we had to refuge at a small cabin near the field until the rain stopped. I enjoyed playing in the rain because it feels like you are a real footballer. But my mother was the opposite. She kept herself under the umbrella, and said  no to playing under the rain! If the field is very wet after the rain stopped, (my mother said it wasn't a football field, but a vast swimming pool) the match ...

Oh thy little green frogs,  Who rest on sleeping logs,  And eat the beastly slugs, Or the small little bugs. Please be kind to these useful creatures, As they gobble up the pestful garden litter, I'm sure frogs are superstars, Oh what wonderful creatures they are!                                                                       Brandon Hah☺ Common Tree Frog/Four-Lined Tree Frog in my backyard. Derrick has been my PenPal for 4 years already. This year was very different. It was his birthday and I decided to take the extra mile. I decided to give him a Birthday present, a gift he will remember and cherish. In the present, I gave him an enormous Birthday Card, a stationary set and a pair of Chinese chopsticks! My mother helped me to post it. Since Derrick's house had no mailbox, a kind friend helped to deliver the present to him. When Derrick received it, he was overjoyed! I hope all PenPals will do the same and I will never forget this experience!

Posted by Brandon: My family and I went on real thrilling adventure to Taipei. Taipei was a remarkable city. It had cars, trains, taxis, vans and other vehicles to be at your service when you want to travel around. The weather was extremely cold on the first few days we arrived.  We went to various places in Taipei. Like the Chiang-Kai-Shek Memorial Park, a VAST place were you could relax in the park. The hospitality and service there was excellent. Their cleanliness was also good and wherever you go, you wouldn't find a bit of rubbish. I think Taipei is a place where you can relax and play sports where ever you want.  Taipei's exotic food is a must eat. Sausages, noodles, taro balls, paus and any other food you can think of can be eaten there. My favourite food or snack was the famous black pearls, a edible chewy pearl-like ball. Posted by Brandon My grandmother lived with us since last month. She is 77 years old. She speaks Chinese and Cantonese, which means she helps me in my Chinese. Ever since from last month, the cooking menu has changed because my grandma knows how to cook delicious traditional food. She also know medicine to make me healthy and strong. She does exercise every morning. She reads the bible, listens to the radio or watches TV when she is bored. Her favourite channels are 7 and 8. She is very happy to ride her electric bicycle. She goes to the market with the bicycle. And even when she is new to our area, she never gave up and cycle through the crowds in the market.

A rare full cold moon brightened up the sky on Christmas Day. It's the first time in 38 years that it's full moon on Christmas. December's nights are the longest of the year so we could see the full moon much longer and it's a typically cold month. Posted by Brandon Cookie, a Miniature Pinscher that joined our family. She is black and brown with a white dot on her forehead. When we got her, she shivered because she was very scared. Minature Pinscher is a one-person dog (Only close to one member in the family). Day one with  Cookie was challenging. She was whining at night and waking all of us including the neighbours.  I started to train her to follow me since it is a one-person dog. She started to follow me from the backyard all the way to the car porch and it worked! She started to trust me more when I play with her. The next day, I taught her to walk on the grass. She was scared to walk on the grass at first but she slowly built up courage. She started to walk on the grass and trot when I ran. I was so happy. We bought her a cage, a water bottle and a bowl. One time when I sat on the mat, she went on me and slept on my lap. I was so surprised but I had to wait for two hours because she slept on me. ...
