Anniversary – When Marriage is Bigger Than Us

We are thankful to have each other, though we are unable to go out like usual to celebrate our 21st anniversary. Our world is still in the battle against invisible enemies, one that seeks to destroy our physical and another to destroy our souls. During this movement control order or lockdown even in some places, it opens up our eyes to see like never before. How we take things for granted and realise the brevity of life.

Someone said, that Marriage is like Life, it is a field of battle; not a bed of roses. Instead of unity of heart and mind, we see God’s providence in two completely different personalities. Becoming ‘One' is never easy in marriage, especially when we want all our rights. Strangely that’s how we see God in the haphazard things of our marriage. As we learn to release one another from our expectations, God can start His workmanship in each of us.

Marriage is bigger than just the man and woman in the relationship. When marriage is about us, we will neither know God or each other. "When we stop wrestling with God, we must start wrestling against the things that prevent us from getting to God, and you wrestle in prayer for other souls." (Oswald Chambers) That’s the secret.

We’re blessed with 3 boys who love and fear the Lord. The poem from afar means more than words can say.

Thank you my life partner!
